T Plus 3 Years – Of Monkeys & Dinosaurs #1

Ah, September 15. To the day it’s been exactly three years since Paraworld shipped in Germany and a few other European markets; the UK/US version showed up ten days later. Well, what a journey that was.

Dippy Weasel Value

If the mighty intarweb is right — and the intarnets wouldn’t lie to me, right?! — , I could make a living just through creating some random WordPress blog and totally not putting any effort into it. If I remember that correctly though, the very website you’re looking at right now was worth more than 3,000 bucks last week. By posting new content I apparently decrease its value.

Holy shit, their value estimation algorithms do seem pretty damn accurate after all.

On a different note, I’ll try to prepare a bigger article for next week; depending on how much time I have, it may or may not get published on September 15. Work is keeping me pretty busy though, not to mention that ‘little research project’ on how one could detect and deal with an information deficit  during the course of a production, which needs to be taken care of for academic reasons.

When there’s some time left, I still keep trying out spaceship designs and have stuff explode spectacularly — see previous post. The Beatles: Rock Band did show up in my mailbox yesterday thanks to some helpful souls. It’ll be interesting to see how that one is going to work out since I never was a hardcore fan of said band.  Whenever I get to around checking it out; it wasn’t until I had opened the package, that I remembered that I had lent my Wii to a dear friend months ago. Splendid.

Coated Peanuts

  1. I do wonder if it’s physically, psychologically, emotionally, and biologically possible to open a bag of  coated peanuts, and, you know, just eat two or three of them.
  2. Will be heading over to my buddies at Lichtblick 4D later today, who will be showing a bunch of fascinating products. Or so I hear. (Why, yes, I hope/expect/guess/assume/pray that they’ll have free drinks and snacks.)
  3. Regarding 1.: Nope, not today.
  4. Steffen, Ian & Co. finally submitted Airborn to the Make Something Unreal Contest. There’s a bunch of new purrrrrty screenshots up at their website. Not to mention the trailer.
  5. I’m currently toying around with Gratuitous Space Battles. It’s quite enjoyable so far, and, most importantly, fulfills the one basic requirement of, well, … anything: Have stuff explode spectacularly. Seriously.

Even Quicker Note

If you do a Google search for “dippy weasel”, will be the top result. That’s a spectacular — dare I say gigantic? — first step towards world domination! Where are you doubters now? Huh? HUH?!

On a different note, I did write down my thoughts on some of the software I saw last week for my dear friends over at GWJ. Small excerpt from the piece on Uncharted 2:

The firefights are pretty intense; I probably would have enjoyed them more if it wasn’t for my awesome skill of being able to miss even a huge dinosaur when having to aim at something with a gamepad. (Yes, guilty of playing most shooters on PC. And no, there are no dinosaurs in Uncharted 2.)

Haha! I am hilarious. Ahem.

Props to Erik for digging and editting his way through the 6000-word monster this article turned out to be. I had no intention for it to be that long, but sometimes content just keeps exploding as you’re trying to pin it down. It’s not as funny as it sounds when it happens late at night, with you having committed to a deadline.

Quick Note

Last weekend, I finally returned to Berlin. As I stepped off the train, two angels descended from Heaven to praise my arrival. Well, it wasn’t exactly like that, but I swear it was close. Had no time to relax yet due to work and whatnot, but that doesn’t completely keep me from updating the mighty intarwebs, and dropping some notes. I was dining with a few friends in Cologne when the following conversation occurred:

  • Mr. S.: So, those medieval festivals were quite fun.
  • Mr. U.: Didn’t whatshername also participate in those?
  • Mr. S.: Who? Tina?
  • Mr. U.: No, no. The red-haired one…
  • Mr. S.: Hm?
  • Mr. U.: The one I had a brief relationship with, dude.

And that’s exactly how it went. Looks like we got a clear case of…

Oh the puns, will they ever end?!

Halfway there, so to speak. Not physically, but mentally. And as I’m planning my little trip to the Rhine next week, I figured I might as well quickly put up another post. Because having the weasel picture right beneath, well, the weasel picture looked downright stupid.

If a tree falls in the forrest…

And thus my tiny Twitter experiment has come to an end. I had created an account on April 12th, and being as humble and awesome as I am, I decided against telling anyone about it. I was curious if/when someone would accidentally stumble across or look for it, and I can now say: The tree that fell three weeks ago apparently made a sound today at around 8:39am. I was not entirely surprised to see whom it was to hear it though.

Next experiment: Will anyone find this very page before it is ready to be ‘launched’ – ahem – officially? Stay tuned for more deep, breathtaking, and shocking insights!
